KBM Kuwait · IBM Platinum Partner, GCC Region

Every engagement starts with a business problem, not a product.

Unplanned downtime on a critical asset. Data nobody trusts enough to feed a model. A fraud team drowning in false positives. A core application nobody wants to touch.

The Context
Enterprise AI has moved, in under two years, from experiment to operating model — from chat interfaces to governed agents that take action inside real business processes.

That shift has raised the bar on everything beneath it: data has to be governed and current, integration has to be real-time, operations have to be automated, and legacy applications have to become reachable. A further shift, quantum computing, is now close enough that the security decisions it forces have to be made today. As IBM's highest-status partner in Kuwait, KBM combines deep local delivery experience with continuous coverage of IBM's fast-evolving portfolio — including its most recent acquisitions, Confluent, HashiCorp and DataStax — to help clients modernize, automate and secure every layer of their operations.

What we do

Business challenges
we solve.

Nine solution areas, delivered by one Kuwait-based team. The problems we are asked to solve most often — and how we address each one in practice.

The challenge

Most organisations no longer lack AI ambition — they lack the foundation to act on it. Pilots multiply without ever reaching production; models are built on data that is stale or unverified; and as teams deploy AI agents, nobody can say with confidence what those agents are doing, or how a decision was reached when a regulator asks.

How KBM helps

We build AI foundations on IBM watsonx: watsonx.ai to build, tune and deploy models; watsonx.data as an open, governed lakehouse; and watsonx.governance to monitor, explain and audit every AI decision against the EU AI Act and NIST AI RMF. watsonx Orchestrate lets clients deploy, govern and scale AI agents from any source under one policy. DataStax adds vector database capability for retrieval-augmented generation — delivered with Arabic-language quality and fully sovereign deployment options.

The challenge

Ask most organisations where a number in a board report came from, and the honest answer is a chain of spreadsheets and undocumented jobs. Business terms mean different things in different departments, the same customer exists five times under five identifiers, and data quality issues surface only after a decision has already been made. Under Central Bank of Kuwait and CMA expectations, "we think it's right" is no longer defensible.

How KBM helps

We establish data governance as the foundation under AI, not a project beside it. watsonx.data intelligence brings the governance catalogue together with automated lineage and quality controls in one place. IBM MDM with Match 360 resolves duplicate records into a single trusted view. Databand adds observability so pipeline failures are caught before they reach a model, and Guardium secures the data underneath.

The challenge

Asset-intensive organisations lose money and safety margin to unplanned downtime, maintenance records fragmented across separate EAM, facilities and field-service systems, and teams that react to failures instead of anticipating them. Decades of manuals and work-order history sit unread because nobody has time to mine them.

How KBM helps

We implement IBM Maximo Application Suite to unify EAM, asset performance management, facilities and field service on one Red Hat OpenShift platform — with Maximo Assistant, Condition Insight and AI-driven document extraction built in. KBM is Kuwait's certified MAS implementation partner, with live experience consolidating maintenance across merged national operators.

The challenge

Two automation gaps usually run in parallel. Manual, paper-heavy processes slow decisions and tie up skilled staff. Meanwhile, growing hybrid IT estates bury teams in alerts from disconnected tools, with signals that never correlate — so effort goes to firefighting rather than reliability.

How KBM helps

Cloud Pak for Business Automation combines RPA, AI-powered decision management and content services on Red Hat OpenShift. For IT operations, IBM Concert delivers agentic AIOps connecting Instana, Turbonomic and SevOne into one shared context. HashiCorp and Red Hat Ansible add infrastructure automation so provisioning and security scale with the environment.

The challenge

Growth by acquisition, legacy core systems and disconnected partner networks leave many organisations with integration sprawl — point-to-point connections that are expensive to maintain and increasingly the reason AI initiatives stall: an agent is only as useful as the systems it can reach.

How KBM helps

Our hybrid iPaaS, built on webMethods.io and StreamSets, brings integration, API management and B2B/EDI connectivity onto one platform. API Connect governs the APIs, MQ and App Connect carry assured messaging, and Confluent adds Kafka event streaming — so dashboards, fraud engines and AI models are never working from stale data.

The challenge

Organisations running workloads across data centres, edge sites and multiple clouds end up managing each separately. Underneath sits the harder problem: core applications in COBOL, RPG or ageing Java that are business-critical, poorly documented, and understood by a shrinking group of people approaching retirement.

How KBM helps

Red Hat OpenShift gives clients a single Kubernetes control plane from edge to cloud, underpinning every IBM solution in this portfolio. Cloud Pak for Applications accelerates modernisation of legacy Java estates without a rewrite. IBM Bob — IBM's AI-native agentic development system — explains, refactors and tests legacy code across COBOL, RPG, Java and Python.

The challenge

Quantum computing has moved from research curiosity to a dated risk on the board agenda. The immediate consequence for Kuwait's banks, energy operators and government entities is not algorithms — it is cryptography. Data captured today under RSA or ECC can be harvested now and decrypted later.

How KBM helps

Near term, we run cryptographic discovery and quantum-safe readiness work using Guardium Quantum Safe — building a cryptographic bill of materials and sequencing migration to NIST post-quantum standards. Longer term, we help clients access IBM Quantum and Qiskit to explore where quantum will matter first for their industry, before it is needed rather than after.

The challenge

As AI regulation expands — from the EU AI Act to NIST's AI RMF and emerging Central Bank of Kuwait and CMA expectations — organisations face a widening gap between what regulators expect and what their governance and data-security tools can actually demonstrate.

How KBM helps

IBM OpenPages gives clients one GRC platform spanning operational risk, regulatory compliance, internal audit and model risk. IBM Guardium protects the data underneath with automated classification and monitoring. For payments, IBM Safer Payments gives fraud teams an open, AI-driven platform to build real-time detection models across every channel.

The challenge

Sustainability targets are now a board-level and regulatory expectation, but most organisations still collect ESG data manually across dozens of systems and struggle to connect it back to real energy and cost decisions.

How KBM helps

IBM Envizi automates the collection of hundreds of ESG data types with dashboards built for TCFD, GRI and CDP. IBM Planning Analytics connects that picture to energy demand forecasting and cost allocation — a practical link between sustainability and operational decision-making across the GCC.

Oil & Gas
01
Oil & Gas and Refining · IBM Maximo Application Suite on Red Hat OpenShift

Unifying asset management after a national energy-sector merger

A merger between two national oil and gas operating companies in Kuwait left enterprise asset management split across separate systems — each with its own registers, maintenance strategies and work processes for critical refinery assets.

KBM led the design and implementation of a unified Maximo Application Suite environment, consolidating asset registers, maintenance strategies and inventory data onto a single governed platform running on Red Hat OpenShift.

A single source of truth for enterprise assets, standardised maintenance across previously separate operating companies, and a modern platform ready for AI-powered, condition-based maintenance.
Banking
02
Banking & Financial Services · IBM watsonx on Red Hat OpenShift, GPU infrastructure

A sovereign, on-premise AI framework for an Islamic banking group

A leading Islamic bank set out to build an enterprise AI capability that could not, for regulatory and data-residency reasons, run on public cloud — a framework for many future use cases, not a single application.

KBM leads the architecture and delivery of the bank's AI framework: watsonx.ai, watsonx.data and watsonx.governance on Red Hat OpenShift, with GPU-accelerated nodes and a production/DR topology sized against the bank's real workload profile.

In delivery — non-production established and production build underway, giving the group a governed, fully on-premise foundation for AI it owns and operates itself.

03
Banking & Financial Services · webMethods · API Connect · App Connect · MQ

A group-wide integration backbone across three countries

A banking group operating in Kuwait, Bahrain and Egypt had grown its digital channels faster than the integration layer beneath them — every new digital service was a fresh integration project.

KBM designed and delivered a group-level hybrid integration backbone on IBM webMethods, unifying application integration, API management and event-driven patterns under a single governance framework, supported through multi-year managed engagement.

Standardised integration and API governance across three countries, and materially faster time to market for new digital banking services.
Banking
04
Banking & Financial Services · IBM licence consolidation & Enterprise License Agreement

Consolidating a multi-country banking group's IBM estate

The group's IBM install base had accumulated separately across three countries — dozens of contracts, unsynchronised anniversary dates, and no consolidated view of where entitlements were actually deployed.

KBM led the consolidation of the group's IBM install base into a harmonised structure and built the case for a group-level Enterprise License Agreement, mapped to IBM's flexible bundles.

Fewer contracts, one group-wide anniversary date, protection from year-over-year support increases, and the ability to add software by amendment before the projects that need it.
Banking
05
Banking & Financial Services · IBM Safer Payments

Real-time fraud prevention for a regional bank

A major regional bank needed to modernise real-time fraud detection across card, online and mobile channels — while reducing false positives that were frustrating genuine customers and burdening analysts.

KBM implemented IBM Safer Payments, giving the bank's fraud team an open, AI-driven platform to build and deploy detection models in a sandbox, without depending on external vendors for every change.

Faster response to emerging fraud patterns, fewer false positives, and a fraud practice that adapts its own models in near real time.

06
Financial Market Infrastructure · IBM Instana · Cognos Analytics · warehouse modernisation

Observability and analytics for a market infrastructure operator

A national clearing and post-trade institution runs services where availability is not negotiable and settlement windows are fixed — teams were diagnosing performance reactively, and reporting depended on a warehouse that couldn't keep pace.

KBM deployed IBM Instana for full-stack observability across applications and infrastructure, and modernised the analytics layer on IBM Cognos to serve governed reporting from a consolidated warehouse.

Faster fault isolation during critical settlement windows, proactive detection ahead of member impact, and a reporting platform the business can extend itself.
